Climate of Chengdu
Author: panda tour  Source: panda tour

Located in the bordering areas of the Sichuan northwest highland and Sichuan basin, Chengdu is mountainous in the northwest area, with plains in the southeast area, and low hills in-between.

It has a subtropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature between 15.5 -16.5 degree Celsius, rainfall between 900-1,300 millimeters, sunshine between 1,042-1,412 hours, and a long frost-free period of about 337 days.

The climate of Chengdu is mild and humid with distinct four seasons and plenty of rainfall. January is the coldest season when the average temperature is approximately 5 degrees Celsius, and July is the hottest when temperatures can be almost unbearable. With the combination of humidity and surrounding mountains, Chengdu is almost always overcast.

The best time to visit is between March and June or between September and November.
