Hongyuan grassland red plain) got its name as Red Army passed this place during the famous Long March, a tough traverse of grassland where there was no namads living there at that time. The name "Red Plain" was given by Primier Zhou Enlai to memorize the Red Armyy Long March.
 
Today, the grassland is covered with cattle and sheep. It is difficult to imagine the wild past. The endless green graasland is covered witht eh blooming colorful flowers.  Traveller can enjoy the beatiful landscape: clear blue sky, wild blooming flowers, pasture, the herds of yaks and sheep.


Zoige (Ruo'ergai)

A duty concrete Tibetan town st amid the grassland, Zoige is on the way to Langmusi and the north to Gansu Province. It is good to spend one day here sipping tea in the sun and at the northeastern edge of town is a temple with pleasant, peacefull grounds.

The fist bend of Yellow River, which is about 65km west to Zoige, is worthy visiting. The river coming from west turns northward around Tangke, flowing through a wonderful landscape of wild flowers, meadows.
