Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou Valley, reputed as a "fairyland", is located in Jiuzhaigou County of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. An integration of green lakes, multi-layered waterfalls, forests and snow-mountains with Tibetan culture and customs, it become a well known scenic area and a natural reserve for wild animals and plants in China with its naturally-endowed and uniquely beautiful sceneries. It was listed in the World Natural Heritages in 1992. The green and golden trees, the lofty and multi-shaped mountains and the clear and colorful waters constitute the unique beauty of Jiuzhaigou while the water of Jiuzhaigou is the soul of its beauty. So, there goes the saying : No mountain is worth seeing after you have seen Mount Huangshan and no other water will interest you after you visit to Jiuzhaigou Valley.
The waters of Jiuzhaigou Valley are widely known for their crystal-clearness, pure transparency and rich colorfulness. The mountains, waters, grass, woods, animals and birds here all are keeping their simple primitiveness without a single trace of artificiality. In the Y-shaped valley embraced by mountains are dispersed 114 terraced lakes and many shoal-rapids and waterfalls gradually flow from the heights to lower places in the green mountain valley, winding 50kms, with the blue sky, the white snow mountains and green forests mirrored in the clear lakes, forming a realm of integration of man and heaven against the primitive water-mills, stockaded villages and the forest of Buddhist streamers¡.Read more
Huanglong
Huang Long, meaning "Yellow Dragon", lies in the south part of Min Mountain in Song Pan County of Sichuan in southwest China. It was denominated a special scenic spot of China in 1982 and entered into "The Natural Legacy Lists of the World" in 1992. It covers an area of about 700 square kilometers and has two parts: Huang Long and Muni Gorge. Huang Long includes Huang Long Valley, Danyun Gorge, Snow Treasure Peak, while Muni Gorge comprises two scenic spots: the Zhaga Waterfall and the Erdao Lake.
Huang Long scenic spot has very special sceneries, rich natural resources, and primeval forest. Huanglong is thus called "A Fairyland on Earth". There are snow mountains just like those in Canada, the Great Gorge in America, the primeval forest in Colorado, and the glamourous ponds in Huangshi Park. Emeishan
Mt. Emei is located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It is towering, beautiful, old and mysterious. Mt. Emei is like a huge green screen standing in the southwest of the Chengdu Plain. Looking its winding and beautiful figure, you will find that it resembles very much an eyebrow of a girl. It is the highest one among all the famous sight-seeing mountains in China.
In Mt. Emei there are four scenic regions: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit. Its main peak, the Golden Summit, is 3079.3 meters (10,103 feet) above the sea level, seemingly reaching the sky. Standing on the top of it, you can enjoy the snowy mountains in the west and the vast plain in the east. In addition in Golden Summit there are four spectacles: clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha rays and saint lamps. In 1996 Mt. Emei was enlisted in the world natural and cultural heritage by the UNESC.
Mt. Emei is a wondrous world. The trees are verdant almost all the year round; the waterfalls are splendid; the whole scenery is beautiful and quiet. The landscape varies according to the seasons, the height of mountain and the climate. The poet Tan Zhongyue living in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) once concluded the beautiful landscape in Emei Mountain into ten scenic sights. Today more and more new scenery has been discovered and given beautiful names such as Listen to the Spring beside the Tiger Brook, Plank Road above Longjiang River and Flying Waterfall Hanging over Dragon Gate¡. Leshan
Leshan, a relaxed town set at the confluence of the Dadu He and Min He rivers, is famous for the Grand Buddha, carved into a cliff overlooking the rivers. Measuring 71m high, it is by far the largest Buddha sculpture in the world. The construction, started in AD 713, lasted 90 years, and includes a water drainage system to present the scultpure from weathering. The Grand Buddha is part of a sprawling complex of temples set on two hills which are said to have the shape of a lying Buddha. The best way to visit is to combine a trip on the river, which gives an unique angle of view, with a walk along the staircase carved in the cliff which let you best appreciate the monumental scale. The Grand Buddha of Leshan is UNESCO World Heritage site. Leshan is in Sichuan, 175km south of Chengdu, and can be reached from there via a fast highway. ¡Read more
Songpan
Located in the northern part of Sichuan, Songpan is a small minority town and a stopover place to/from Huanglong, Jiuzhaigou or Zoige. but worth exploring. With the ethnic minorities people of Hui, Tibetan and Qiang inhabiting there, Songpan itself is so very lively. The style and atmosphere senses quite special there.
More importantly, Songpan is a historic town, featured by a peace-craving political marriage of Princess Wencheng in the 6th century BC of Tang dynasty and the Songpan Battle in the famous 25,000km Long March(1934~1936) of Chinese Red Army. A sculpture and a monument was built in Songpan to memorize the 2 historical events respectively.
